in Digital Printing on Fabric
SUSTAINABILITY AND TEXTILE MANUFACTURING: THE CONTEXT TODAY
The Textile Manufacturing Industry has some critical aspects in terms of Eco-Sustainability, one of the more important regards the large amount of water utilized in diverse phases of digital printing.
According to an estimate of the World Bank, the textile sector alongside agriculture has the greatest responsibility in damaging and exploiting water resources. To produce 400 billion square meters of fabric requires nine trillion tons of water.
For an effective reduction of environmental impact in this sector it is necessary to find innovative solutions to modernize and optimize production models and single processes. At TOP DIGITEX we unite research, technology and ecology and have made a plotter for digital printing on bolts of Fabric Non Fabric (TNT) completely eliminating the necessity to use water.
RESEARCH: RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PIGMENTS AND TNT
TNT is a synthetic material generated by unwoven fibers like propylene polymers or polyester, rayon, viscose, which to sight and touch seem to be fabric but are actually composed of veils of fiber held together by mechanical, chemical or thermal procedures.
Within our department of Research and Development, our technicians have studied an entire TNT printing process and the chemical-physical characteristics of both the sub-strata and the ink used for printing material, the pigment.
The advantage of using Pigment, a thinly subdivided solid essentially insoluble in the application method is that it doesn’t require the use of water in the process of fixing the color. Our objective was to eliminate water in the other phases of the printing process on fabric non fabric.
After running several tests, we combined cylinder machines to this type of ink eliminating the necessity of washing the carpet glued to the substrata in the printing phase; achieving the objective of our client to drastically limit the use of water.
Not only TNT
" We are sure that we can apply the same approach used by our Researchers for TNT to optimize the digital printing process for other FABRICS, including LEATHER, FOAM MATERIAL, WALL TO WALL AND CARPETS "

REPEATABILITY:
ADAPTING THE PROJECT
TO YOUR PRINTING
We are proud to have taken a step forward in reducing the environmental impact in the Textile Industry. Seeing how the market for TNT is rapidly growing due to numerous application spheres from bio-medical to intimate hygiene products, automobile to sportswear and even to the Uniform market; and due to the numerous advantages of non-fabric (resistant to UV rays, no-slip, anti-bacterial, anti-static, transpiration, recyclable, and with good resistance in general).
